I really love it! :D I think I will take the scraps and make some throw pillows out of them now. It was made out of four different felted wool sweaters, cut into 14 6" squares, sewn together to make a 2x7 square rectangle, folded in half lengthwise, sewn on one short and the long side, turned right side out, stuffed with beans for weight, and scraps of the wool sweaters for some bulk, and sewn on the last end. Make sense?Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-78589251379192502042012-01-26T09:35:00.002-05:002012-01-26T09:57:28.023-05:00Happy 2012!Hi again! Once again, a lot has happened in the past 9 months! I'm looking forward to more baby sewing - we will be having a little one join us this summer! I haven't been sewing a ton because of the morning sickness...then my Viking died on me when I was sewing our Christmas pajamas at the last minute on Christmas Eve. Well, it didn't completely die, it just would have been a straight stitch only machine. I was very thankful for my simple backup machine! After saying goodbye to the Viking in the shop after learning she couldn't be fixed and raiding my extra feet from her, we went to the Bernina dealership where they had a 10 year old barely used machine that they thought would work well for me. She is wonderful! Very similar to my Viking, not too many extras that I would never use and will last a long time. She is solid! Her name is Cinderella, as she has a pretty blue dress. :) I will try to get a picture of her later. I tried her out the day after we brought her home and made a draft stopper for our front door. I love how it turned out! Nate has been asking for one for awhile and I decided to thank him for the new machine by making it. Pictures of that will come later as well. It's cute. Anyways, back to the purchase of Cinderelly - we expected to spend a lot more than we did, as we were considering new, so Nate made sure I got some extra feet, including a walking foot. He loves me. :)

Because I haven't been up sewing much, the sewing room became a dumping ground for clothes that aren't fitting - both mine and the toddler's, and warmer weather clothes for all of us, toys that aren't being played with at the moment and various other things. I cleaned off my sewing table yesterday and in the next few days I will tackle the rest of the room, as well as making a safe place for the toddler to play while I sew.

I realized while I was up there, that I have enough fabric/projects to keep me busy for YEARS! I made up my mind to see how much of it I can use up this year. We will see how it goes. The draft stopper was made from some felted wool sweaters I had. It felt great to use them, and the sleeves can be used to make soft baby pants for cloth diapering, as the wool won't wick out the moisture like cotton does.

Weaving has been on the back burner. I wove a baby wrap that I love - but I don't think I would weave more. We'll see. I have an order for a stole that I need to get going on as well. I'm trying to get my life a little more organized before that gets tackled - I have some dyeing to do before it can go on the loom. That's my update for now - hopefully pictures to come soon!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-18306479264409134022011-03-08T09:50:00.004-05:002011-03-08T10:01:29.841-05:00More Baby Sewing!!!
I can't believe how big my girl is getting! She is now getting to the point where she will play as I weave or sew...for a little bit. I just finished these overalls for her. It's a Burda pattern, and I made the 18 month size because she is starting to wear some 18 month clothes, but it is quite big for her. Oh well. Better too big than too small!!!

The pants are made from an old cashmere sweater! They are SO soft and will fit for awhile! They've been working great for when we go somewhere in the cold and a full snow suit is too heavy. They were so simple to make! I just folded some pants that she has in half and traced them over the sweater sleeves. Easy Peasy!

Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-30725065935781350682010-10-15T12:58:00.000-04:002010-10-15T12:58:00.220-04:00Onesie!!

Sewing with knits has been a lot easier than I thought - especially with a serger now! I think I have mentioned before that these owls aren't my favorite, but it is fun experimenting with them! This pattern was really easy. I used a shirt for this that I found at Salvation Army a few months ago and could have SWORN that I had taken a picture but can't find it on the computer! I still think I did, but am pretty sure it is on my old phone which I <s>dropped on the stone steps of the library</s>, oops, I mean just stopped working one day! (We did tell them the truth but the tech told me that never happened and replaced the phone.) Back to the shirt. It was a ladies extra small blouse with the lace for the front, and fine cotton for the back. can't remember what the sleeves were, I am thinking they were plain cotton as well. The main part of the bonnet was cut out of one side of the blouse, and then I hand picked a row of lace off with a row of plain cotton for the ruffle. It turned out really cute....now that it is finished the weather is getting colder and it is getting too small for her head....but will be adorable for her little sister (whenever that happens) or another dear baby girl.
Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-2758373888253311002010-10-14T12:35:00.004-04:002010-10-14T12:45:46.954-04:00Way Too Long!!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLEI2mYtZGq6t2QPtZmmc1xgUxP4ED8INIK0RGCbWJAsAkm4njuuNwfgFnxBkOM-wJa_hRDlDkPh6hY10BXmfMvIdoWF7sm10GCpG7U7XhGk4A6tZx6K_Hf5gReLWZCizt3bfXt2wRk6s/s320/028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5527942449994705986" />
Remember this? I have warm weather clothes....and cold weather clothes for Ria, but not much for in between. I decided that I need a light hat to help Ria acclimate to the cooler temperatures. She has hair, but not enough to keep her little head warm when the temperatures drop! The pattern is the Sweet Pea Pilot Cap and can be found on this blog. My friend, Trina, has made several of these, so I tried it, and it was fairly easy! This fabric is Ria's absolute favorite. Mine too. When I went into labor, I took my favorite blanket to the hospital with me (ok, ok, I will admit I can't sleep without it). It is SOOOO soft! After she was born, Ria would just melt into it if we placed her on it - it was one thing that would calm her down. Mom found some fabric - Joanns calls it the ultra cuddle fabric and made her some blankets and a hat....the blankets are used every day but the hat is now too small! I can't believe how fast this baby is growing! We saw my Mom's cousin's baby (it is too late for me to figure out seconds and twice-removeds, I'm sorry) and he was SO tiny. My baby isn't so little anymore - and she stood on her own the other day and again today!! oops. sorry. back to the fabric... anyways, I found some white cuddle fabric and used it to make a couple of hats out of it. The edging on this one is from a tank top that was rather comfy, but was JUST the right color for her, so it was sacrificed. lol. The things I do for this child! HA! sorry. Back to the fabric....again!!! The great thing about this is that you can't see the stitching!!! What a relief, because the first time I try a project, there is always some wonky stitching! Here is a picture of it being modeled. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiohSlMboVBxd4QJODN4sNr2QAEwS8ftaXzBdlOyuwjjLR4ykyM_8jS1uEHbt2i2kr_Eil_pyVco4SpcR_jithicOjgcw9UQPprZtdbR3RvyP6Pz4HaCyIBspZ2cwV-a2UTsTQ3ZoJjOrA/s320/901.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521787086200943250" /> Focus on the HAT, Jen! The pattern calls for a knit fabric, and since this one doesn't stretch, I made it in the largest size. I have to keep messing with it to make it cover both ears, so I will make it extend farther on each size if I make it again, otherwise, with the stretch of the knit, it should be a great size for awhile.Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-58764654789799037722010-09-27T21:38:00.004-04:002010-09-27T21:53:20.381-04:00Too long!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs9goSdgT7ZbS0UWkIAqmCj_dU3M7OKFEndMLcX9SeTQO_AJi6G5fCNI4r_lC_N5F68nO4M_IBUwbn8F9m7GtoIogDgcbyfETFtLXqwFOglntgEO3Eo4UtayJGyedHyNAaalcdmOxHlpE/s320/029.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521775466168021522" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 213px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCn7tdyO0Ff5Rx0qyMrim5KtZAvsG7u9vfI__qb8NdC7mHPlfS4IoctCJB18XmMGtRfcrxgogoeFwPNCEk90rOMSv-tuEXJ75Lp1aV2mfEeTMImMK0Xa9r9K0f7Zqi-8iQJeoJDevBY_I/s320/028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5521775458598140338" />
Ok, so once again it has been forever and this post is coming because my dear friend Shell is losing faith in my blogging abilities. Ha! Well, it has been too long since I have posted and this little dress is also too long....but too narrow! It is a fight to get it over her head and since she is crawling at the moment, a long skirt isn't helping her make progress. So there are a few modifications that need to be made to it, however, I love it and it would be great for the winter with a pair of leggings...or some wool pants made from a refashioned sweater. The pattern is from McCall's. Overall it was very easy other than the neckline, which is an overlapping neckline like most onesies. I serged it but still tried to fold it over 5/8" like the pattern called for - it was impossible around the curves, so I ended up serging it again and cutting 1/4" off and it turned nicely. :) Not my favorite knit, but I haven't done much work with knits and this was nice to start out with. This was made in the large size, so my next project will be pattern adjusting! :)Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-75999882111148914192010-04-09T15:16:00.001-04:002010-04-09T15:22:20.808-04:00More Elephants!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkGgHVndW2UTn0SWGZrBTaoy53QyvZWlX11PU_sZbUsvYsXL6l_9LROMP-Vxe7jMnjWl56K0K-jK8pwSrl0Gj601UE1yqJmLblJLXknQo_1diESkB2LC0ppMZmCVS6JL6a4uDo5HP9vBg/s320/221.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5458220189388592434" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUUhJNlp9sPUUiiDcVP-Svep3sWin3A-IGGh2YsTYRYZ9RVsxuoIXm2qc9iSBNil9v2SyaN35gFP8QY7mvYI8Q_Pq-NVxlflEQATsFFvsZn8Y8nkKUf27g_2_rf-Py7VZRCQCRiHrV3hU/s320/225.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5458220183212368674" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnw2Pt9p9bKMo0W1beMXYnRJRD1vbHIzK6Eom_9iQvQR2kqBAwnszDOKo3c8WVdoT8OAv9p5es9ilElbLPUsVJ5iZi2jpn-G4EjoKrEou4fsHWrnCHUaV9QktinFK_-xrpNAgf2-EOJ8A/s320/226.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5458220174729777106" />Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-84315384868764395052010-04-05T10:19:00.000-04:002010-04-05T14:52:33.640-04:00More sewing!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXWasut74-OvqbdTF1AVvBQ4T_7yTIXcdKsJD371M09P2LRVYilrTzXkoqEY5Mr9Cp8R2iGl109EjErABAF9KRKPSP8rEa4Tb-p039qbDgqvJUdvgCyk3LtJe37gruGUJMx0GN71OU2BU/s320/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5456726766238360210" />

I made these for the son of a dear friend of mine. I have been really busy getting ready for my little one! Some of that has been sewing for the baby. I made a fleece bunting and hat that are so cute! Pictures for those should be up tomorrow. I also made a breastfeeding pillow. I picked one up at a garage sale, but I didn't realize that it was slightly mildewy. After washing it, the stuffing became extremely hard, so I took it apart, and used the fabric as a pattern. I made the pillow and two covers. One is linen, from a skirt that I found. I love how it looks so sophisticated! The buttons are only on one side, but make it look so neat! The other is flannel on one side and fleece on the other, and is SO soft! I am sure the flannel one will be getting the most use! They both have zippers for easy removal, and I am finding that the more I put in, the more comfortable I am with them. I used to freak out at the thought of putting in a zipper! I am also working on more Pack N Play sheets, nursing pads, and dog boots. My dog boot pattern needs some modification, so I keep working on it a little then setting it aside before I get too frustrated with it. Nesting has definitely been working to my advantage - I love crossing projects off my list!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-36491379142426090452009-11-13T15:52:00.000-05:002009-11-13T15:58:53.510-05:00Unedible Cake!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzwqlywT9Bef9Jun3ZXITuc4sNN3J9vt9QoDKRvtzAo5SSH9k3Yc6tGF7AuB-vl8DD6y0mriXPQYzF2jrK3ROgIFmO7TP4ZJXBVA4PUeLWTfkxjzGQxIlzNgd3hGp6Eg65c3kvlD25wrA/s320/November+09+139.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403695339921465522" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGHb3Y1hAfyoG6r_9tgD1lvLeRR8V9WPd5yttfxFS4u8G_DUkvfDojNZVAOSUnxLn6plIjK4xcVVi1VPBcCTtrTuUOBE5v-1e3g_o8X0iB_WpA7Gv3ZPODdb7603GuF3778H3wa1Q0QGE/s320/November+09+130.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403695331891145858" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSF2YIFYLlS9-9_qAbSUYfjWhz033LI5AgZCLEgO-vIizIw6nzW-CyJ4tGcY3gUiyjFnrFHcNELCOhOEpgP98N4b9baACBLwnMbzoQbErnTDcgC9ywmr4kP0QC2IqlsjhSE2vvcTn6CV8/s320/November+09+128.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403695326626459906" />
Tomorrow is a baby shower for a friend of mine. I have been trying to figure out what I am going to do for the winter for skirts and pants....most of my medium maternity pants are getting small, but the larges are too big. I grabbed this skirt at a used clothing store so that I could try and modify it for my ever growing belly. The zipper needed to be picked out so the scissors wouldn't cut into the teeth and break....so I picked it out and still managed to cut the zipper!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_tMXsukp85mE7YuX_vU_y3iA3FSp1QtTrzclkykynszzYdILpRGOmFVOIooJTMZWKgRoOurl6iCL9IuKNjdEsfsQaL5k7BB-AM-wf6gijrfAXHDfhu9jkPNG8Ccd9_7IYSoMK6_7XVDQ/s320/November+09+008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400090815484550466" />

A rectangle of knit fabric was folded in half, then I measured it on my belly and cut it to size, serged the ends to make a tube, then sewed it onto the skirt.....5 minutes before we had to go to church! :) When we were at church, I realized that the knit stretched more than I thought and had to keep hiking it up! While Nate was out hunting later on that afternoon, I took it back apart, make the knit tube smaller and sewed it back on. It is SO comfy!
I will definitely be modifying more skirts and pants!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-34468872987283289702009-10-20T17:16:00.000-04:002009-10-20T18:07:18.701-04:00Baby Stuff!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5oJgp9EY7LBdIkYpIZmwzWJ5B1FSpKHfWxfI6VAGOHqn1LqiTiF9BFrSpoa7tsHlf-B8PHtstJ1ReMbY3iWusAYJFRcdgqlnHZK9ibEUuX2ezguQQP6xgmo03xObUKYWd-LRTktILk5E/s320/October+09+083.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394805416518631842" />

Last Spring, right around the time I found out I was pregnant, I ordered a serger, so I could sew with knits and finish off my handwovens better. It has sat in the box, under my loom (which also hasn't been touched) for the whole summer! The other day I decided I needed to be creative, so I took a women's t-shirt and made these for the little one. I am hoping they are neutral enough that I could use them for a boy or girl, but looking at them in the pics, they are pretty girly. I do love how they turned out though! For the pants, I took a pair of 0-3 mo. pants and made a pattern out of them. The hat pattern I found here. The shoe pattern I found here and then downsized it 80% to fit a smaller foot. We'll see how long they fit. Normally they are made with quilting cotton, so it was interesting sewing so many layers together in such a small space, but I really love how they turned out!

Lots more projects coming soon! I have a messload of fabrics and patterns to make stuff with. It really was a blessing in disguise for the Salvation Army to leave town - now instead of seeing all these clothes and coming up with stuff I could make from them and bringing them home, I actually have to start making them and using up my stash!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-63004334076002180172009-07-30T22:08:00.000-04:002009-07-30T22:15:28.481-04:00Dilly Beans!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 274px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGO3qS-nqryPFvNehX7BJEj0mBrmEEofemt3ifxCz3zd6Lld6_jCmMz3woSJyo8o-qeIX0U3gRoVPT8k0IiyuPpBLh972TPwMteDjRxdBgnsTergzKLCk4Hs9UYrNsHIkzMZquxCUF7Hk/s320/Dilly.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364442060226014642" />
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYLdUavgOsJgWsQzzJM1AfEr1jW5tGgW866qYBGIA4XVZ_OO3WTKNTDtCrvr59diZC_CeGAaN1t4LcfYYWhB7BddAclOo9ol3dKLf2QnKPaC829Er4iILSKStp90GnA98dTVFyDSjs7a4/s320/July09+447.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364442056793085090" />
These are a favorite of ours. If I do no other canning, I do these. They are so great when I have a migraine because they have cayenne in them to dilate the blood vessels in the head or something! My brain isn't working very well today! :) They do have more color than shown in the pictures, however, they look pickled! I'm not sure if it's because they were processed a little longer than normal, or if it is a different type of green bean. We will see in a couple weeks when we test them!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-43928166083319651962009-07-29T20:36:00.000-04:002009-07-29T20:42:50.991-04:00Zucchini!<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC043mab_1MkUSZ5e71Op9Wijhaz6WbZaGr5QLH9oHBg48UMS7WbtYgrjb9ut-6Tq-nPwlhbKVNMSyox3vO0-c51_bOX60bMrK0GIXMA4r4DdgDnqvyjjrsjA_EyUDqUTkdSf-ESSyTVA/s320/July09+413.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364046560918017154" />
Our garden is doing really well, except for our tomatoes. We are pretty sure they have the late blight that is going around. :( Our sugar snap peas were great, but not too many made it into the house. They are my snack while working outside! The zucchini is growing like gangbusters! We have had a ton of rain, so they are thriving. So far, we have been marinating them in a balsamic viniagrette, then grilling them with our meat as well as making stuffed zucchini. It is so yummy! I'm starting to freeze up meals, so we have them when the baby is here, because there are less than 5 month left. Time is flying.....speaking of time.....I think I'm giving up Fairyland and FarmTown on Facebook. Both are fun, but are sucking my time horribly!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-21065804082831255952009-07-02T09:00:00.000-04:002009-07-02T09:31:09.182-04:00I'm Back!Sorry guys! It's been over a month since I have posted anything here. I think everyone who reads this knows that I'm pregnant. :) I just hit 14 weeks Wednesday and am starting to get more energy. Wednesday was spent cleaning and catching up on laundry. (Finally!)

Psyche was driving me nuts yesterday. Nate had gotten into the shower and I was working on stuff at the computer. Numnuts decided to get up on the desk in between me and my computer and make me breathe cat hair. I got tired of it, picked her up, took her to the bathroom and threatened to put her in the shower. She ran off, and I got in the shower too. When he finished, he got out to dry off, and in a minute was back in the shower, washing himself off all over again. The little brat had peed on the towel! I had to laugh! She really can be spiteful!

We went for a walk yesterday, I was having a medium energy day, but Nate had to get out, so we went for a hike on the Fingerlakes Trail, a section we haven't been on yet. It was really interesting. It has been really rainy lately, so there was a ton of different types of fungus. There was also a swamp type place where the trail went over tree roots to keep you out of the mud, and in there was the biggest slug I have ever seen!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8rDZzkOxernAx0K2BiSzKfcV_ImAc62b21hSepo9Al6E4FZL8KZxvWnKOoupQqAy2U5Z2867Y9EHzhysdiFCW6_6HkOBsk7Op9y2gR0maK74sS73biVCk5wrgnyGhqZNQHt9uGUrz9Hs/s320/July09+020.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353851258912133394" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJnFKYyt6lFVswcaujB5tNzOW9dj7gxbaqPyVWO_pGE_Y8UQUf8BRztEcgs0YtZBoyt4iqKhm02I-Ocz2QUffNhQPCcxFfoHiqYT3SjoZ4tN2LS5VLZUA-tZ1MchhpR4zZY9DQbFxcW4o/s320/July09+059.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353851253670433890" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRZGwF22wHd2Kyq6LUn_m-UkzT3BaAEsnmhgp5nhNAfT2TdRilFJy_x7NRKvbx1KRcyahVxLQEG3mb842l8mvg_iRw07DhVvj7mWoamY8dSggLNKGC5Fx4Yf_jSecX1WDtytueEkOHA90/s320/July09+039.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353851245204728882" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaemjYmLDMf7FhDGnJ6WrBJCMPwb15C64kGrmM9Q00Dq1IrMoxwBFtbtwFK3WuVvZ49lZBn6S3mL1WieChGMiH3w7VPqzzf42OsJKs3hpYd0zk0xywYlEKLkfHVszTojkaufTBQFGRJDc/s320/July09+014.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353851239696355346" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNWIVSMAfqhOSzedf75rPGftPn8d5m2znSfal3-ilkWr1EpFfBdVIyK6H2utH4QO2YIHFehZHM-ALOGBVApazNLsxQ0gKkLh58aChvrAVNv7A5PO4AmJqmHksJadBUcXgpCXBFngJ3NDs/s320/July09+015.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353851234351057586" />
Take care, everyone! I will be posting more here, but I have also started another blog, that will probably focus more on family and let this one be more for my crafty stuff. I have lots of craft projects now that the baby is coming! (And a new serger! Yay!) I also need to finish my weaving on my downstairs loom, I think I might be trading the loom for my piano, which I have missed since I have gotten married. It will also give us a little more room. The other blog is set to private, but if you would like to see it, leave a comment with your email, or email me at silverstrandstudios@frontiernet.net and I will add you!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-48296297533741312492009-06-08T15:24:00.001-04:002009-06-08T15:32:06.532-04:00Our garden<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu-vKDzZwrOIAyDcTzx4YuFqShtcugH1IdAvXms6VoPLrVsckg8STKUZbUgYBCi8Pd00n25Xfc-r30aYnXDb_g_GffV-uWD-aAdT42Dup5rDS-s1K-ypb5lBDjiXl8Q2YU3RO1UHXwJHY/s320/May+09+033.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345041660678393970" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSCNdgqNBJCS2emkfFL5WRnsg9r9shpXg7rKHhmMaNscwTZH4yOICL_rjV9ccv5QfbSdCCpEJYOCKE85K-61k1biaDH5rK1KlmxcuMxYaXC3bKv_8SxVLslgf8ezSooKl8oAYLkZG6zWY/s320/May+09+028.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345041656263907554" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCMXGT8P8TX7-q7K-6AcbH2jThGmH8kkM4OEL-4ujhTHul_UtWVyTv9V_CSZdikGWzE3WzrGlThX3aeOOgNIYUTl-VC2tx1l2vYCRlF7SmF5_h3cw0ypPdS6j1P2rsMvYCYbN4MACwkzw/s320/May+09+027.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345041654305355042" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKtC19dMKnhsluIt697gbsEW11jS6_fV6zCb-txudX-hVNi0uRn_nKF_lSHj055043MSJvHkcGkqRzAD3bXr6dW_I01XrlIDkCwCLw2WBWqyr3TFidA1edcj9EfpjYf5D_DmHOiZIFvAM/s320/May+09+022.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345041647631235490" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHK1Q-qyVuX6hGU_y8_M1Oh9jSfpBY1LXAsLYiR6C-UK2toDr8mfA6ZoJybgOERVu5whId76PyHTSkrYu59B6i95syI3sZYYxEAixO3CCeFWRydBa6-XG9XVPj-5o2yBSOiB0n8y03y6k/s320/May+09+014.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345041642984877954" />
I really love late Spring/early Summer! We have a little perennial bed out front and right about now is blooming really well. After this it looks pathetic for awhile, but then early fall looks wonderful again! Right now the lupine, bachelor buttons and chives are just finishing up, and the false indigo, rhododendron and columbine are looking great! We planted some red geraniums which are annuals up here because Nate wants to attract some hummingbirds. Nate also gave me a orange echinacea a couple of weeks ago that I love!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-91092802116207081952009-05-21T18:57:00.000-04:002009-05-21T18:49:19.264-04:00Dreaming...

...of how she can terrorize me next!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-58789468255099474332009-05-12T08:20:00.000-04:002009-05-12T08:26:00.200-04:00ConfessionMy sink is definitely not clean!

My apologies for not posting lately - I haven't done anything worth posting lately. It's been awhile! Spring has brought about many things to keep us busy! Nate and I got up at 4:00 am the other morning to go scout for turkeys. We didn't see any, but the sunrise was beautiful! It was so neat to hear the birds start singing - I mentioned to Nate that it sounded like an orchestra warming up. He said that it is called the "Dawn Chorus" So pretty! The weather has been very warm - it was snowing one day, and 80 degrees the next and 80-90 for the rest of the week! We have been busy outside, so not much has been done inside. Confession: I am back to Day 2 of keeping my sink shiny! I feel ready, though, to start again. Practice makes perfect, right? Saturday, there was an auction here in town at the storage units. They were auctioning off units that hadn't been paid on. I went to see if I could find a rototiller, snowblower, sewing stuff, or a really nice queen bed. OK, so I was hoping a little too much. It was pretty much all trash! Papers that should have been recycled, rather than paid to be put in storage. I didn't buy anything, but spent the day helping Nate's aunt and uncle who bought 2, because she wants to put things on ebay. I was cringing at the thought of what the insides of the houses looked like, and realizing that I don't want to have a cluttered house - which I have already decided, but needed a reminder.

Crafty posts will be coming soon. I can't ignore them much longer!Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-346870671089582418.post-91813490515070207872009-04-20T10:03:00.000-04:002009-04-20T10:23:07.573-04:00Deerkeys and an Impromptu Photo ShootIn our area, there is suspected to be a mythical creature known as a "deerkey". This animal changes shape from a deer into a turkey and back. If you are out hunting for turkeys, it will take its form as a deer, and vice versa. We went out for a hike yesterday scouting for turkeys. Because we were just scouting, and not hunting yet, we saw the creatures in both forms. Next week when Nate goes out, they will all be in the form of deer.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEGGdaki_iAPB7-_RvkoxztGOHPLFKm9ffkhDU0PEiqr4uIptYkJeAqoRzJVzR2N5961j19byAs0hJo3QcOS2BpfSdJgbjKSWJWmIpkneSZSNnZCfvz3i0Ll4N0o7PubU2cTkSWhaf-B4/s320/turkey.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326777009423318146" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcJgi0ErAmV7knZZzS8vm-5LEe4xUhy1KgSGlBaej0Eq6ZlXQO-Ac7ZZAd3f5NZnq9v_3WxyweC3esCHUqRxOBeTM1oOfwZUltPAw-STflzpThSVICRgzt4tHzZLEReqxo7ERDxfKaGik/s320/deer.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5326777004401525170" />

Last week, we went for another hike with the dogs. This really is a record for me! Since my downstairs was cleaned for Easter, I have also gotten into the habit of keeping it that way. I now have a morning cleaning routine that includes emptying the dishwasher, washing the breakfast dishes, sweeping every other day, and doing the laundry. This is so awesome! I am so much calmer with a clean house, I have been able to do more reading, and had some friends over for a spontaneous dinner without freaking out!

There is a downside to this, though. I don't want to get my sewing stuff out and make a mess! My crafty side is absolutely begging to be let out! I think this is a case of "be careful what you wish for".... it may be worth it....jury is still out....Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08564118846479161180noreply@blogger.com0
